In this work, I draw inspiration from the quiet joys I find in nature: the play of light across the natural world and the sense of wonder evoked by intricate structures and textures. I respond to patterns and textures observed in nature and am particularly drawn to cryptogamic plants such as lichen, moss, and algae, as well as fungi, and to the forms and surface structures of marine creatures, invertebrates, and coral.
This small set uses deep blue glass textured through delicate mark-making techniques. At the centre of each element is a glint of silver leaf, designed to catch the light and sparkle.
A glimmer is a faint, gentle, and often unsteady light. Through the application of glass powders and the deliberate construction of textured surfaces, I use light and reflection to create a subtle and magical quality. The pieces are layered at differing heights on the wall, producing enchanting shadows and a sense of depth.
These fleeting observations—small moments of encountering natural phenomena or works of art—quietly shape our inner worlds, influencing perception in understated and almost imperceptible ways.
The piece measures [dimensions] and is attached to the wall using simple stand-off fittings fixed with standard screws. A wall plan is included. The work can be displayed vertically or horizontally, or arranged to follow the line of a staircase.
The piece can also be framed; please contact me for a quotation.
